External Examiner Wanted - Childhood and Youth Studies Degree


This is an undergraduate course offering the opportunity to study Childhood and Youth Studies either as a BA Combined Honours degree focusing on the age group 8-19 or as a BA Single Honours degree, in which case students study the whole age range (0-19).

The modules taught reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the subject and the expertise of the team. Students study compulsory modules in each year: the Child, Family and Society (first year); Childhood Research (second year) and Contemporary Issues for Children and Young People (third year). They choose additional modules from the following list to reflect their interests and career aspirations in the second and third year: Mentoring Children and Young People; Effective Practice with Children and Youth; Youth: Cultures, Subcultures and Lifestyles; Motivating Disaffected Children and Young People; Child in Society.

Graduates from the course go on to pursue employment and further training in a wide range of sectors including: social work, voluntary sector, health settings, family support and education.
